Mustang Survival employees set sail from Vancouver, British Columbia, to San Francisco to deliver a carbon racing boat for the Pacific Cup. Setting a course for joy with Boat for Hope

Last summer, optimistic and untethered by the ephemeral nature of passage on the Atlantic, Mariele Guerrero set out with a goal of circumnavigating the entire province of mainland Nova Scotia, by stand-up paddleboard, solo. 

Each morning, David and Leah would begin carrying their canoe and gear over precarious boulder fields for kilometres at a time, socked in by dense smoke, terrified that they would be burned alive in that place.

Their route followed old trails that were once highways between important places for nomadic Indigenous people; grounds where hunting was good, waters where fish were plentiful, and places where people met to trade. 

Annie Nagel is an accomplished competitive kayak fisher who discovered the sport after a terrifying car accident changed her life. As soon as she reeled in her first acrobatic rainbow trout, she was hooked. This is her story of living beyond land.
